Homefront
Homefront presents a chilling scenario where the United States has lost its superpower status and faces an invasion by a unified Korea in the year 2027. Players take on the role of Robert Jacobs, a former military pilot who is conscripted by the Korean army but subsequently rescued by a local resistance cell. Now on the run, Jacobs must assist the resistance as they strive to connect with remnants of the US Army outside San Francisco.
The game's single-player campaign follows Jacobs and three resistance members as they conduct guerrilla attacks and try to escape the walled city of Montrose, Colorado. Gameplay closely resembles the Modern Warfare series, featuring snap-targeting, aiming down sights, and a familiar control scheme. Players can carry two weapons at a time, with weapons dropped by enemies having randomized attachments and scopes.
One of the most distinctive aspects of Homefront's combat is the "Goliath" robotic assault vehicle. Throughout the game, players use a targeting indicator to direct this autonomous machine to engage specific enemies or tanks. While the single-player campaign is immersive, it received criticism for its relatively short length upon release.
